Start with the question

Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in energy use, muscle activity and nerve signaling. Different salts deliver magnesium; their labels are not evidence that one treats a condition better. Magnesium helps many enzymes do their jobs, including those that use energy. It also participates in nerve and muscle function. Correcting a shortage is different from adding extra magnesium when intake is already adequate.
